 Attack on Xuchang
« Thread Started on May 6, 2008, 11:50pm »

It was a cold day, the wind blowing back and forth, with many of the peasents themselves running to hold down tarps and shielding their eyes from the hail of dirt. There was no drought, to be sure, but Tiger Trap Pass was not what someone might call a city, more of a military base with people living there. Many of these people were servents of generals, or their families, with children running amongst the crowds. Many also used the water ways to move to and fro from here. On the ramparts, the banner of Wu flow, with a smaller banner beside that, one of Pirates and vigilanties. Wu was know for it's river ways, and Tiger Trap Pass sat just on one, and Wu herself had hired many of these men to help in running her, at least, military wise.

One particular Pirate General, Sima Mao, was not an average looking man. One could tell he came from royal linage, or at least, should have. With a strong jaw, and eyes that seemed to take in all that was around, many were rightfully worried when talking to the man. One could easily gather that he saw more than he was letting on, and indeed, he was.

He sat in his chair, running a stone across the front of the Cursed Phoenix, his axe. The black half moon shaped headed weapon had it's own dark history to it, and the countless slayings of soldiers were only parts of it's call. Of course, many Wu soldiers had died on the end of it as well. But that part of his life was over, no more need to be killing them when they pay him to kill others, such was things. He ran his thumb against the silver skull on the weapon, it had once been dark red, bloodied by those who stood against him.

Mao heard a noise, then, footsteps of a messenger he believed. And when one did indeed show up and bow, he presented him with a paper. Mao raised an eyebrow and grabbed it from the man's hands. The messenger bowed once again before standing straight and walking out towards the road. Mao unfolded the parchment as the other man left. As he read, a small smile grew on his face, it seemed his knew leaders had decided it was time for a little attack on the Wei held city of Xuchang. Mao rolled up the paper and head towards the barracks. Undoubtedly other officers had been given this as well and would meet there, to plan and cordinate of course. As Mao left his chair, he noticed one of his soldiers walking by. Grabbing the man's arm, he informed him to prepare the boats for departure. The man saluted and headed off to the docks.

As Mao entered the streets, a groom and Mao's horse, Majestic, a pure white stallion, with it's tail pulled together, and tied with blue ribbon. Mao swung up on to the saddle, taking the reigns from the groom, who bowed and left. The one-eyed general's own Bodyguards flowed around him, creating a sort of shield against all incomers. One particular strange thing was that all the bodyguards were female, and they all were dressed in strange clothing. Mao himself brought them from the far south Nanman, where he won them in a gamble of his life, he shook his head, though, pushing it out of his mind, it didn't matter. The peasents and soldiers alike moved out of their paths. The women knew how to use the axes at their waists, and many in the pubs learned just how unfriendly they could be.

The barracks itself loomed closer after the short ride through the streets. It was only build a few months back, a sort of reminder to both Wei and pirates that Wu had taken up residency here, and one would be best to be cautious. Of course when it came to Wu hunting you down, that is a different matter as they now soon find out. As Mao dismounted, another groom came to take the horse. He smiled again as he entered the building, it appeared that no one else had arrived yet, he just hoped non was foolish enough to head out and attack Wei alone. He knew some would do that just so they could get a little shut eye and all. Zhongran took a seat against the wall, with his bodyguards taking up positions at the doorways, they did so like fierce when the scowled, which they normally did, except when it came to harrasing him. Luckily for him, that was only done in private. He swung his axe absentmindedly, twirling it in his hands, the fun would soon start, he could feel it.

"And so, we shall go to war." He muttered.

Back To Business

‘The morality of this godforsaken world bares no treasury upon the isles of freedom; there is nothing but poverty and corruption that plagues our minds, and small things such as greed and consumption are those that in fact destroy it. It would be then considered what, wise? To act in the manner in which we do. Fighting for the righteous or the ambitious; there is no defiling morality we know, but since there is no such thing as a moral break down. All we have as men – are words, words and the power to act, be it on impulse or through a moral goal we as human beings set for good or bad. So when you look upon your enemies corpses, remember that down the road of history, we will be considered bad people.
- Abstract from Hsiang Yu’s diary.

Hsiang remembered it to be a cold day, where the water puddles grew extensively every 30 or so feet beyond the cities keep, barricading them in with waves of water and burning metal. Where the rain would wash out the grit and the blood that smeared upon their dull expressionless faces, and where the wind struck down on both man and item, as if acting as a simple reminder that their time here was slowly coming to an end, where fate – or destiny; would finally have it’s clutches upon them, and to the heavens they would soon go.

Hsiang remembered all of these things as he sat beyond the boats prow, his eyes a mess of confusion and weakly focused concentration.

“I still remember it.”

His words seemed faint as he broke through the façade that corrupted him, his comrade being none other then SolBadGuy, a Wu Co-Emperor who had tried his best to comfort the distraught Shu Warlord.

“It’ll be fine Hsiang, I have no issues with helping Shu – just so long as you help us finish our last expedition against Wei.”

The agreements had already been approved, but Hsiang could not help but wonder, and worry.

“I have seen things…you people wouldn’t believe.”

He rose from the bottom of the prow, making his way past the entrance to the higher deck and onto the extended platform that revealed such beautiful sunsets in these eastern parts of the land. SolBadGuy trailed slowly behind, listening to the deepened voice of Hsiang Yu – as he seemed to relay parts of his experience.

“Attack Squads on fire off the shoulder of Onrion, I watched C-beams and arbalest fire glitter in the dark for nearly 10 hours a day, and all those moments …. Will be lost … in time, like.”

He paused ever so briefly, allowing a single drop of rain to hit the deck before the memories of that final battle relayed its own message again and again to him.

“Tears … in … rain.”

He turned to SolBadGuy, smiling – but in a way that could not have shown any pleasure at all, but disappointed – and shame.

“I though I was going to die … I thought it was the end.”

He turned over to the sunset, seeing the boat draw nearer to the small ported village just before the military keep of Tiger Trap Pass, where his army now stood, ready .. And waiting.

The plan had been a simple one, and officers such as ZhenXi and Sima were now the only ones left to inform.

“Oh and Hsiang.” Sol broke the silence as Hsiang leapt from the boat, keeping an uneasy smile as he glared into the sunken sockets of Hsiang’s eyes.

“Good luck, and thank you.”

Hsiang returned the pleasantries, and left for the keep. There he knew Sima Mao would be, and upon entering, he could do nothing but reveal a weak smile.

“Our orders are simple, we are to escort the main Wu army to Xu Chang and help them lay the siege, we have the responsibility to make sure those walls get breached, so get ready – and prepare for a tough fight.”

It's lame..but it'll do for what its worth lol
