I think these need to be instituted and I felt the issue was so important that I made a seperate thread for it. When a character dies, I do not feel that the person who played him should be able to make a new character and get the full amount of troops granted to new players. I think that he/she should get half of whatever troops he had on his old account when he died, along with whatever gold he had. At the same time I think that the person who killed him/her (or the person with the army that killed him) should receive some stat award based on how he slew him/her.

I like/dislike this idea. Because someone might let their friend kill them to keep their troops/split the reward for his death. Maybe if you die you lose half your belonging in general, but if you have less than the starting goods via that, you get those instead. It will prevent cheating as I explained above, and also, for the most part, let people keep their troops, etc...

Half your belongings sounds like a good idea. And on second thought I think that the conqueror shouldn't get a monetary reward after I understand the rule's loophole. Instead he should get stat-ups, but not puny +1 stat ups. He should gain significant stat raises of at least +3 for a few stats...

Maybe one for fame - as well, you kill someone important...you gain fame, no?

Fame is a stat, and you shouldn't get just +1 for fame. As said it should be at least +3, but more like +5 for multiple stats and even above if you killed someone high-ranking.

That is what I meant - fame should rise by maybe +5, and then, depending on how you killed the officer, depends on the other stat. Plain 'ld fighting - war, an ambush - Tac, etc.
