Zhou was tired, the great trial the kingdom he loved was going through seemed to have affected him aswell.Although a few days ago he was a wreck,Sun Jian dead,Ce not taking the throne however fate had intervened and allowed Yu to keep his sanity and the kingdom to survive. It was only a small act he thought,he hadn't been at Xu Chang,he hadn't fought the ultimately futile battle to save Lord Jian. The most cynical would have called it a victory,Xu Chang in Wu hands,Wei badly damaged and without the famed advisor and tactician Guo Jia.
He walked the lone path through the city, the dust swirled lightly in minature twisters as the wind blew through empty streets.Zhou was cloaked in red,his hood shielded his face with a cloak of shadowy darkness.Under the thick, swirling robes he wore his katana's with one blade he was skillfull but armed with a sword in each hand the Wu officer was a demon a swirling wind of steel and violence. It was early, the sun's rays held no power and spiralled weakly over the lone figure of Zhou Yu.Each step he took echoed eerily through the deserted streets. Finally he reached his goal,it was a small unassuming house, almost hidden by the larger homes surrounding it as it nestled snuggly in the street. His hand struck the weak door twice,Zhou was by no means a strong man, relying on speed and skill when he had to fight, but the entire door shook the hinges shuddered patheticlly. It was a long while before any sign of life appeared. The sound of feet being dragged sounded and the door opened standing in front of Zhou was a elderly man,he wore a bunch of cheap rags and his face was hidden by a mass of great, white bushy hair with only his jet black eyes like beetles visible.
"Waddayawantit'sfourinthebloodymorning?!"
Zhou looked around in a apologetic way,he knew to respect his elders but it didn't help that they all were irritating, grotchy, humpback midgets.
"Er....yes.....um are you Teng De?"
His eyes stared harshly at Zhou and for a second Zhou expected them to fall out.Extending the wooden stick he leaned on he poked Zhou in the knee.
"An who's askin' sonny jim?"
"Zhou Yu."
"Ah yeah,the lanky puff?"
A embarressed silence tolled and Zhou focused on a small dog down the street.
"I hear you straighten your hair.GAY!"
Still trying to ignore the cackling oldman he focused on the dog as it relieved itself on a sleeping tramp.
"What d'ya wan't?"
Finally Zhou returned his attention to the old man.Staring hard he massaged his temple's he wasn't really used to being abused by short lunatics.
"I hear you're the best sculptor in the city."
"Might be,who's askin'?"
Zhou could have cried but still he persevered.
"Zhou Yu."
"Oh him,I hear he's gay."
Nodding in a sagely way the old man cackled.
"And I hear he straightens his hair."
"Anyway,I need you to make a statue of Sun Jian, the best statue EVER."
A look of disgust covered the old man's face and he spat to the side, his spit was a deep, sickly yellow and Zhou thought he saw it move once or twice.
"Listen sonny, don't interupt yer elders. In my day you'd've got a clipped ear for that."
Zhou very calmly,in slow even movements produced a bag of gold.As if able to attracted to it Teng followed it as Zhou moved it through the air.
"You will make the statue,I will pay."
The old man adopted a hypnotised look and began salivating at the edges of his mouth.
"Ok."
"I'll go to the market buy enough stone and bring it here ok?"
Teng shook himself from his trance.
"No goddamnit! You want some good stone.Right listen good,to the north is a quarry, now there's a kinda stone there it's silvery and shiny.Get it loads."
"Really,that easy?"
The old man mumbled something into his beard and became fixated with Zhou's feet.
"Well........there is the bandits that live there."
"What?"
"Okay a gang of bandits live there."
Zhou sighed,he should have known. It was never easy.
"Ok I'll go.Kill the bandits get the stone and be home in time for lunch."
Without a word he twirled smartly on his heel and marched away.
The sun was at it's highest and the true fury if the fiery orb was evident,Zhou was sweating deeply as he dragged himself towards the top of the quarry. His limbs felt like lead as he placed his scratched and bruised hands over harsh rocks. Finally he reached to top and looked down at the huge pile of rocks, standing weaklt amongst two huge mountains of rock was a deserted damaged mining camp.Looking down the harsh slope he had to go down to reach the mass of bodies he ran his hand through his now filthy hair.Flinging himself down the hill he smashed off the ground and rolled and span, behind him came a trail of dust like a great serpent chasing him. With a smack he hit the rocky ground and felt the metallic taste of blood in his mouth spitting out a crimson trail he began walking to the position of the bandits,he guessed maybe 30.
As the Wu officer got closer he crouched and hid behind outcrops of rocks. In a swift motion he drew his katana's,the light reflected off the perfect edges and shone like they burned with a holy fire.
The sounds of the bandits could be heard loud now, laughing and roaring. They were brutes the smallest at least 6'1 and each was well equipped:Axes, hammers, swords and spears.Out of nowhere he came a flash of silver and red,a blur of deadly motion the only evidence it had been there is a headless bandit.Slowly the bandits formed a circle blades extended they showed looks of fear as they stared at the unseen foe.Out of nowhere Zhou again attacked his blades a extension of his limbs as he twirled with agility ducking under a axe as it almost hit him.In one fluent motion Zhou sliced opened up the guts of one and impaled another.Within a few minutes the remaining bandits fled in fear.
Drawing a bow Zhou fired a single arrow and the carts soon appeared,as the sun began to fade Zhou headed back to Mo Ling at the head of a caravan of carts filled with the beautiful stone.
As they entered the gates the old man stood there rubbing his hands together in anticipation of his pay.Giving a weak nod Zhou retired to his room and awaited the next day to see if the reputation of the sculptor matched up to his skills. As the sun rose again Zhou headed out into the city his breath was taken from him,it was huge the swirling stone was a brilliant color, enchanting and hypnotic.A beautiful statue that was almost identical to Lord Jian, the stone was punctuated with gold.A crowd had gathered around it and each wore the same expression, their mouths a perfect 'o'.Feeling he had aided his kingdom Zhou headed back to Chai Sang a smile on his face.
