Atop a glistening white steed, followed by Sun Feng atop a contrasting black stallion,Zhou Yu rode at the head of the collum of his army.Attracting the stares of many the Wu officer shrugged it off, with a swift hand signal the army broke off heading to the barracks.Feng looked around at the people, with a wide grin he began waving frantically,Zhou sighed and carried on to the castle.
Dismounting he turned to the huge crowd that had accumulated.Raising his hands Zhou smiled and begun speaking in a calm, controlled tone.
"People of Chai Sang.......I am Zhou Yu,in his wisdom Lord Sun Ce has appointed me to serve you as prefect.I swear I shall help you to prosper, defend you against the scum of foreign lands and usher this fine city into it's golden age."
Before a respnse was created he turned smartly on his heel and strolled off to the throne and his first day as Prefect.

The slow tapping was the only voice in the cold halls of the palace, positioned tensely on the prefect's throne was Zhou Yu,he wore his casual robes, hanging lightly on his shoulders a weak red with a small golden tiger on each sleeve and the back.He leaned forwards on his small throne, one hand on his chin the other twitching on the arm of his seat of power. His mind was fixed on only one thing, the acts that had happened at Xu Chang he knew something was wrong, inside him some sense had triggered and now his day's were full of worry.
Finally,as if the air sighed it's release, another sound came, the clapping of feet on the marble floors.Tap....clap....tap...clap...tap finally the source of the noise emerged a man wearing the red armor of Wu.In one hand he bore a small letter with the seal of the Sun clan upon it,with a shaking hand he offered it to the seated officer.Reaching out Zhou felt all around him vanish, falling into a emotionless grey all his focus poured onto the letter the small blotch of red, very slowly he opened the letter but before reading looked to the heavens.
Lord Zhou Yu ,Life is a small thing,a brief flicker of color and sound in the intense calm of death, indeed before we know it the flourish of energy is overcome by the stillness that surounds it. I bring to you grief and sorrow, the kingdom of Wu is in pain, during our trip to Xu Chang,a trip for peace with no ill intentions.Upon our arrival we found out the truth of our meeting,Wei the cold calculating force, guided by the hand of the cunning Guo Jia merely orchestrated the event as a way to entice my father and maybe myself into a trap.It pains me greatly to inform you that Sun Jian,a man who was like a father to you was struck down in a hail of arrows.Although we killed Guo Jia we still mourn this loss and find little celebration in the capture of the city.
I have elected not to become the Lord of Wu until I am deemed worthy by my people. The funeral will be held tommorow at the mouth of the Chang Jiang.
Sun Ce
The note dropped from Zhou's weak hands swinging from left to right as it fell to the polished floors.A handful of surrounding advisors looked to the prefect and the cold expression he wore.Stepping forwards the messenger spoke into his ear in a sorrowful tone.
"Perhaps you should speak to the people and inform them of the darkness that settles over Wu."
Zhou looked at the man and nodded.Rising from the throne he looked dead the shadows on his face deepened hiding the pits his eyes had become. His clothing looked like it was ragged and slipping from him.Without a word the advisor to a empty throne headed to his private quarters.
It had been two hours and the people of the city had been told to gather at the entrance to the palace, they shifted uncomfortably the harsh rain poured down with a sorrowful chill,as if the elements mourned the death of the Wu Lord. The figure of Zhou Yu walked out towards the steps that stood before the people of Chai Sang. The constant mourning of the heavens poured down the steps and as Zhou looked up crashed into his youthful face, however the expression he wore looked much older the drops of rain ran a long path through the wrinkles of his skin before falling from his chin to the earth.Zhou looked out to the people he served,he hadn't been the prefect for long but had done what he could to make their lives better. He rose his hands and the people silenced.Zhou looked mournfully over his charges,he saw children looking to mothers with worry,he saw old men look to the heavens. Finally he felt a weak cover of confidence enter him.
"People of Chai Sang, today I was informed that Lord Sun Jian, the Tiger of Wu....has.........been killed.......by the traitors of Wu."
Zhou felt his voice falter and the tears spill down his cheeks mixing with the rain.
"We shall remain stalwart and honor our great lord.Lord Sun Ce has claimed he will not rule Wu if the people do not think him worthy.I deem him to be the only man worthy to succeed his father.Do you consider him worthy?"
He was greeted by a thunderous yes and Zhou smiled weakly. He knew that the old tiger had slain his last prey and his fangs had been blunted but his cub the new Tiger would rule the south and be a greater hunter than his father. With a low bow Zhou turned and headed to the palace.
As he entered and began ordering about his subjects and saw a lone, tall figure Sun Feng a nephew of Sun Jian, the red surrounding his eyes told Zhou all he needed.
"Feng...."
"Don't......he lived well and I will remember him well."
It was all that needed to be said,Sun Feng turned on his heel and headed to his room.
The next day,Zhou Yu and Sun Feng set out for the funeral of Sun Jian. The sun glittered warmingly upon the two officers of Wu.The two of them trotted slowly speaking in distant tones of the old ruler, his famous victories and heroic past.
