The leafy plains of the city where crops are grown in times of seige has main roads on each side of the plains.

From the western roads came an assault of cavalry, flanking the ranks of Cao Ang and his men. They charged through, breaking the enemy ranks and piercing past. They cleared the enemy, and turned around to face them. Cao Ang was in the front, atop his horse. Xilai Shao raised his hand, halting his soldiers, and riding forward. He rode his fierce black horse, his black cloth blowing in the wind over his shining red armor. Shao waved his spear over his head, slashing downwards, locking it between his armpit.*
"Cao Ang, you pitiful fool. I know you damn well, you are the son of Mengde. You know not who I am, and that shall well be your downfall. My name is Xilai Shao, I am a Captain of Wu. Cease your men behind you and ride out to meet me alone. There is no reason to fight a battle between you and I, yet a duel serves the perfect purpose.
"Cao Ang, son of Cao Cao, the Hero of Chaos... I challenge you to a duel. Ride!"
*To begin, Xilai rode west, allowing Cao Ang to follow him. It would begin a mounted duel, and progress from there.*

Cao Ang had returned from the capital - with prescious few men at his disposal, this was not enough to save the city - and as he could see Guo Jia's greatest fears were justified. As Cao Ang arrived on the scene to see Wu's army tearing through the centre of the city. This would not do the scoundrels would pay!
Cao Ang reset his men into formation inside the walls - preparing to move south with frontlines of 2000 Skirmishers ahead of 2000 Light swordsmen with 1000 Archers in the rear and 2000 Mounted Lancers on the flanks ready to charge. It was then that Xilai Shao gained his attention, with such a proposal of open challange Cao Ang knew it was best not to - but he couldn't resist.
"The lord of Wei accepts your challange!, such a pitiful man - you know of me, but you are just a nobody out to earn a name for yourself. But this will not stop my army, come dismount - horses do not deserve to be in duels."
Cao Ang dismounted and walked towards Xilai Shao - step by step slowly, then with a wave of his hands his men began to advance southwards towards the Wu forces.

*Xilai Shao noticed Cao Ang attempt to enthrall him in a duel while his men advanced to Sun Ce and the Wu army. He waved his hand, giving out a shout, and his cavalry sped around. They encirled Cao Ang's troops, before gathering south of them, in three lines across the entire road, as a roadblock. They stared down their opposition, making it clear they would not allow any to pass. They were to sit and wait for the victor of the duel, or attempt to break them. They formed into the following formation:
-----------CCCC ---CCCC--------CCCC CCCC-------------CCCC
*When the hooves halted, they faced north, watching both Wei's main force, and Xilai Shao with Cao Ang. The formation, weak at first glance, was enough to destroy any army with enough men. It was not how it began, but how the soldiers acted under pressure. Wu's cavalry was well trained, by Xilai Shao, who was a cavalry genius.*
*Meanwhile, Cao Ang had accepted the duel, dismounting for a fight by the books. He began walking towards the west-bound horseman. Shao, hearing him accept a duel but decline the horses, laughed.*
"You attempt to mock me, yet you look in fear at an advanced rider! I thought the Cao's had courage and might, it seems the books I've read prove that wrong!"
*He turned his horse around, increasing speed towards Cao Ang. Concentrating heavily, he brought his legs both to one side, hanging onto the horse tightly. As he approached Ang, he seperated himself from the steed slightly, preparing to lunge. At about ten feet apart form eachother, he released the horse, jumping towards Cao Ang, thrusting his spear forward with one hand, keeping the other open. While he landed, he began a flurry of strikes, slashing upwards across Ang's chest, thrusting his spear forward, then swinging it at his legs, attempting to take his feet out from under him.*

(How many troops you got with you? - And new thread for duel?)
Cao Ang's men were wasting no time - the man himself was to enter a duel, but this by no means meant his army was to be held to a standstill. The 2000 Skirmishers sent the first attack at the Wu lines sending 2000 Javelins at their ranks - aiming for the men over their horses if possible, this was followed by an attack by 1000 archers, sending 1000 arrows across the battlefield. With the missiles ahead of the army 2000 Mounted Lancers began making their way towards the Wu troops - a slow trot at first, but they would speed up once they reached the Wu men.
Meanwhile Cao Ang kept careful watch on his opponant, while agreeing to his offer the man still insisted to use his horse to start off the duel. But Cao Ang waited until he was committied in his jump - a man couldn't dodge an attack whilst in mid air. Then as soon as Xilai Shao's feet had nothing to stand on Cao Ang threw his sheathed Sabres forward - the flicking motion causing the sheaths to fly at Xilai Shao, the left aimed for his stomach and the right at his chest where it joined his shoulder. Then as the man neared the end of his jump, Cao Ang pushing with his left foot slid around Xilai Shao's landing spot, dipping slightly as he did so leaving an empty space where his body once was.
As Xilai Shao came down he once again regained the ablilty to change his actions and Cao Ang's left sword that was closest to Xilai Shao moved to parry his swipe upwards as Cao Ang's chest, while Cao Ang's right sabre moved directally horizontally trying to find its mark in Xilai Shao's ribs. Then keeping his left sabre connected to the Spear Cao Ang followed the weapon metal scraping agsinst metal to keep it from gaining up any momentum to swing at his legs.

*Xilai Shao had landed with force, ducking low as he did so. He slid his hands outward, then spun the spear to his left, coming around with a spin to the right, backing up and regaining control of his weapon. He glanced towards the castle, knowing his orders.*
"Son of Mengde, I regret to inform you that I am unable to fight you. Duty calls."
*Saerin Zei was well on his way to meet Ang in battle, but Xilai pulled back. He caught up to his horse, mounting while it rode, and he sped it to full speed while his cavalry turned south and followed.*
"Shame you could not see the ability of my cavalry. I pray we meet again, Cao Ang."
*They sped up, allowing no reponse. Zei was well on his way north, and would stall him for long enough. They turned east, towards the courtyard.*
(Sucks... bleh.)

Cao Ang just stared at the fleeing general before him, it was not usual for a man to simply run from a duel so easialy... regardless, a victory was a victory in Cao Ang's eyes, which mean only one thing.....
"MEN press the attack, these Wu dogs run like the wind at the first sign of danger - we need only force them from the battlefield with our presance!"
The Wei lines charged forward - the Wu troops victims of their charge

A blur of obsidian, the only form of solitude amongst the darkness was the bright gleaming of the weapons as they bore on around the bend within their low numbers. Speed and time were of the essence, they had needed to keep the pace which they were in if they wanted to win this battle. Nevertheless, Saerin rode onward with steel resolve, his thirst for blood fueling both himself, and his armies as they followed closely behind him, any stray opposition being cut down by arrows long before the force itself would be engaged. It would not be long now before he had surrounded Cao Ang completely with the Wu forces, he would crush them from there...
(A repeated post yes, but hey, no action! ^_^)

Fierce fighting was going on in the city, Cao Ang had split up his men - though he lacked amply apt commanders to do his bidding. The greatest priority - the open possibility of retreat was what Cao Ang saw as the most important prospect for the moment. Then with a unit of 1000 Archers, 1000 Mounted Lancers and 1000 Lightswordsmen Cao Ang headed north again. Many of his men had failed to comply with their orders anways - distracted with fighting going on around them, it didn't matter - so long as Cao Ang had enough of his men he could win a war.
With his men in line Cao Ang led 1000 Mounted Lancers towards the approching Wu troops, the people of the city were there to cheer on their salvation. Cao Ang was relying on them to inform him more than his own commanders - the fate of the city hung in the balance, as Cao Ang powered onwards towards the new Wu troops.
