There are gates around the city and palace. You must ask for permission to enter the Palace gates, people are allowed to move as they wish between the exterior gates of the city.

"Halt! State your name, and your business here!"
The twitchy guard at the gate looked beyond nervous as he observed the approaching entourage heading towards his gates, and his hand shook as he placed it upon the vast city walls, peering down. It was a massive sprawl of soldiers, loosely spread out, seemingly not in any formation- but despite this, he still wasn't sure. In such uncertain and perilous time, you really couldn't afford to trust anyone, lest your head be forfeit. Careful decisions had to be made, and this was one of them. A large army marching up to the gates, headed by two officers of green cloth. Of course, it seemed like the men of Shu, but the guard certainly hadn't been informed of this, and as such was exceptionally unwilling to let them in. Now, the formation halted at a safe distance away from the gates, and the two officers rode up towards the large wooden doors, staring up at the guard, who shouted down again.
"State your name, and your business here!"
He was unerred by their silence, but he could only wait as the taller one turned to the slighter, apparently questioning something. The man in green and white, who seemed to have an extremely calm manner, simply spoke several words, and then the taller man shouted back up.
"Shao Jiang and Fa Zheng, of the Shu forces! We have been instructed by Lord Liu Bei himself to travel to this city, and command the prefecture."
He looked as though he wanted to say more, but a cautionary glance from the other man stopped him. It seemed to be a classical case of brain and muscle, and the gate guard looked down at the pair suspiciously, before turning to his comrades and entering a discussion to decide what to do. Surely a messenger would have been dispatched to let them know of any change in the prefecture? Upon saying that, the name of Fa Zheng was not unknown to them, though many of his deeds had been completed in the western areas, rather than in Jiang Ling, the virtual center of the land. After much deliberation, he sighed to himself, and then reluctantly swung upon the large gates, keeping a close eye on the pair, especially Fa Zheng. They would undoubtedly need to be watched.

A lone figure was seen aproaching in the far distance. Nothing, it would seem out of the ordinary, until the figure got closer.
Up close, the peasants in the fields could see a giant Ox of a man. He was bald, and wore blue. In one hand, he weilded an enourmous axe, to go with his stature.
He trotted gently upto the gates, and bellowed...
"I am Dian Wei! I challenge any man in this city to Lordship over it, or are you all too scared to face the "Coming Evil!?!" he added with a mocking laugh.

(Hah, you see us as a men with honor, don't you. I hope your lord didn't send you here to do this..) The guards laugh at the man, chuckling as they went about the top of the gate, calling someone's name out. Finally, thirty seconds pass and the man in question is here. He has bold eyes, a fiery spirit, in every aspect he reminds the men around him of being a Tiger. His name is one sought by many, the infamous Bo Ru, Demon of Nei Bei. He is unethical in his practices, a very fiery man at the most. He has a grand sword, and an even grander halberd. Yet, his is also a fine bowmen, being a grand warrior in all fields, reminding many of the former Lu Bu. He was he chief bodyguard of King Xuande and was here with the grand Shibo so to aid him in crossing the plains, just encase spies would appear. Liu Bei long ago realized how Cao Cao and the Sun family operated, even in his own lands in some cases. Yet he'd have none of that.. Bo Ru was surprised the man had a chance to enter the area without taking to main roads, that were patrolled this being a border state. He shrugged it off, not caring as he took a bow in his hands from the guards upon the gate. The guard placed his quiver upon the stone while rested on the gate's wall. The warrior took one arrow from the quiver and pulled the bows string back. His eyes were dead set upon the man, his face blank, no emotion existing. His words came quickly, the last warning.. "You have two seconds to leave from this city. You will be fired upon in two.. one.."His target was the mans very shiny head, his next would be his chest, knowing that the man could probably dodge the first arrow.. (Don't think that we just f*** around down here.

Dian Wei laughed a loud and terrible laugh. "I see you cant take face the "coming evil" after all...very well..." he said dismounting.
He took his horse by the reins, and started to lead it backwards through the fields.
"I shall remember your face...and see you in battle, where you wont have a high wall to keep you safe...you cowards, you make me sick...I can imagine you running away in battle, leaving your Lord to perish...GET OUT MY WAY!" he bellowed, grabbing an unsuspecting peasant, and throwing him to the floor, clear of his path. He didnt look back.

At this point, the gate guard knew exactly whom was meant to be here, and who wasn't- and after the escapades of Dian Wei at the opposite gates, the guards were only too happy to see a face that didn't chill them to the bone.
"Open the gates for Lord Zhang Song! Hurry, Lord Fa Zheng is expecting him at the palace!"
The gate captain yelled at his subordinates, and the vast gate creaked open, after the guards had taken another cursory glance around for Dian Wei. But there was nobody aside from Zhang Song, who was now free to enter the city and go wherever he pleased.

After setting out from Chang Sha, Guan Yu was fast approaching Jiang Ling upon his grand steed, Red Hare, yet due to his soldiers also being transported, the journey was longer than predicted (There's my excuse ). Guan Yu, saw the gates from afar, he was happy that this journey was finally over, it was about time. His men looked relieved that they were here, they most probably hated the journey as much as Guan Yu did... Maybe. They charged towards the gates and when directly in front of them, Guan Yu spoke[Guan Yu] "Ah, I believe you may have been told, bt I am here to serve under the Jiang Ling prefect Fa Zheng, may I be allowed passage?" With this said, Guan Yu awaited an answer, thinking of the rest and food he will get once entered.(OOC: Lame post, out of ideas )

This time, the gate cranked open immediately, as the guard had already seen the famed figure of the mighty Guan Yu approaching- the flowing black beard was exceptionally difficult to miss. His red face was even redder than usual, and the gate guard certainly didn't want to be on the receiving end of an irate and impatient Guan Yu. He was, after all, the Lord's brother- they must allow him passage promptly, rather than keep him waiting."Of course, might Lord Guan Yu! Please, head right inside! The gates flew wide open, awaiting the arrival of Guan Yu to the Jiang Ling palace.(No worries, so am I. )

After the extremely easy battle of Jiang Xia, Guan Yu returned as the main prefecture of Jiang Ling, it was an honour to him to have such a post, but right now, he couldn't think of that, he need to rest and to eat, along with his army, they were exhausted, regardless of how short the battle was. After the arrival, the guards let them straight in, while inside, they celebrated their victory and hunger with a feast
