.. He may, you're not in his head. I would like to say that I wouldn't risk a country, but I 'd also like to say I wouldn't respond to a nuclear strike with nukes. I feel that life is a bit too precious to waste, despite what some semi-tyrannical leader does.
My views don't necessarily reflect those of the people in power, so I don't often use them as a judge of whether or not someone else would do something.
I'm also a pessimist, so...

He's only semi-tyrannical in your opinion because you've been indoctrinated by capitalism. To the North Koreans his father is often seen as a great leader. And I am not sure what they think of him.

My Fourth of July was pretty lame. We wasted all of our Illegal Mexican Fireworks last year. So we only had like one this year. Still, it sounded like a gun shot when it went off. I need to go back to Mexico to get more. >.>

I never once said that I was refering to the curent leader, nor did I say I was refering to North Korea. I am speaking in broad terms. Hell, Britain may nuke us tomorow for all we know. We may decide France pissed us off. In any of these situations, it would be risking a country. And is it likely? No, but it is possible, as long as nukes exist. However, we are way past the point of disarmament. As long as there are seperate countries, there will have to be nukes.

I don't think we are past the point of disarmament. I largely agree with you otherwise actually. If you are building nukes you are doing so with the intention of using them, directly or indirectly (indirectly meaning that you can use them like a threat or warning). I don't think we should have nukes and I agree that there is a possibility of nuclear warfare so long as nukes exist.

All very true, but say all the countries that have nukes agree to get rid of them. All warheads are dismantled blah blah blah. Well, what happens when some crazy terrorist regime takes over Poland and manages to build a nuke and launch it at Brazil or whatever? With no nuclear weapons in the "superpowers", the threat of a nuclear attack, IMO, is greater, because terrorists and petty tyrants won't fear retaliation.

Unless that crazy tyrant is stopped before he can build a nuke. It would be better if everybody dismantled, because it's much easier for a lunatic to inherit a nuclear weapon than to build one against the will of every other country in the world. In my opinion the US is just being stupid and inconsistent with the issue. North Korea is breaking an international treaty called the non-nuclear proliferation treaty, which states that countries should not be able to build nukes and should be encouraged to dismantle nukes they have. The US should invade North Korea (not nuke, as that would anger every country in the world) before they get an arsenal, rather than being all gay and appeasing Kim Jong Il (like the allies before World War II tried to appease Hitler, my god was that stupid...).

I couldn't agree with you more. But I stand by my statement earlier. And yes North Korea is violating the treaty. I personally am all for invasion myself, but I think the general population is tired of war. I can't blame them, but hell, let's make one more bastard feel our wrath.

Europe was tired of war after World War I, and because of that we had World War II. :/
(If France and England had f*cked up Hitler before allowing him to re-militarize, take Czechoslovakia, etc. then they would have prevented what ended up as one of the biggest and most life-costing wars in history...)

Yes, I was alluding to WW2. And that is exactly why we should go to Korea in force.

Or if we're really tired we should build robots capable of battling for us. But yeah either way works. o_0

you know, I was just saying that to my friend about an hour ago. seriously, I said we should have robots that fight all wars to preserve human life. Not like advanced A.I., but enough to distnguish enemies and non-combatants (i.e. humans).

Okay, for one, I'm all against invasion and here is why, I'm stationed in Okinawa which is pretty damn close to Korea and I certainly do not want to go. Even though I'm a cook they would still send my ass and I see no reason to go. No offense to those who are for it but would you be willing to go fight them or send your friends or family to do so? The war in Iraq and Afghanistan had a purpose, to stop terrorism, but invading Korea just for making nukes and testing missile casing launch capabilities is idiotic. If that was the case then we would have to invade Pakistan and India for testing nukes too. I saw on the news that Kim Jong Il (However it's spelled) said he would respond to U.S. attacks with "Annihilating and nuclear attacks." Now is he crazy enough to risk his country, maybe. If my beliefs were strong enough then I'd prolly do the same thing if I was attacked though America could decimate the country in a matter of minutes. Look up the Trident-II missiles our SSBN's carry. They have 6 475kT warheads in each missile and the subs carry around 24 of them. They have a range of more than 4000 nautical miles. He knows this and probably wouldn't want to mess with them. Simply put,
Trident-II = Complete and utter ass-whoop'n
If it came down to a war though and we sent in troops I definitely could see him launching a strike but I don't think he would do it without being provoked....I hope...
